Silverthorne is proud to support local graduating seniors through the Schmidt Scholarship Program.
- Graduating seniors should contact the Scholarship Coordinator at Summit High School at 970-368-1126 for the scholarship application.
- Silverthorne only accepts scholarship applications through the Summit High School Scholarship Program for SHS, Snowy Peaks and Peak School students.
- Scholarships are meant to be used in the following school year.
Qualifying Guidelines
All applicants must be a graduating senior living in the Town of Silverthorne town limits. Town boundaries do not include Wildernest, Mesa Cortina, South Forty, Ruby Ranch, Hamilton Creek and certain areas of Ptarmigan Estates. Applicant should verify residency in the Town of Silverthorne prior to applying for the Schmidt Scholarships.
- Financial need will be a strong consideration if two applications are close in rank.
- Demonstration of good citizenship, activity in school and community programs, sports, scouting, etc.
- Applicant needs to demonstrate ability to succeed.
- Application does not necessarily mean an award.
- Parent, legal guardian and student must be a Silverthorne resident and student must be graduating from a Summit County School.
Scholastic Scholarships
Awarded for studies commonly thought of as scholastic or academic in nature at any institution accredited by the state where studies take place.
- Applicant must have above a 2.75 GPA to apply.
Trade/Technical Scholarships
Awarded to assist students in the pursuit of further education in a trade. Courses must be taken at a certified, registered or recognized institution endorsed by the state where studies are to be completed. Examples include auto mechanics, electronic repair, cosmetology/barber school, paralegal, court stenographer, secretarial school, medical/dental assistant, computer studies, etc. Schools not requiring tuition or where the student is only involved in “on the job” training (electrician, carpenter, plumber apprentice training), or those entering a trade apprenticeship program, do not qualify.
