Recognition
Our department has twice been honored with the esteemed “American Spirit Award” from the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP). The award is given to small agencies that meet high standards, achieve high performance goals, and provide their community with uncompromisingly professional service, despite adversity.
In May 2021, the Silverthorne Police Department was awarded accreditation as a Police Department in the State of Colorado. In the State of Colorado, there are 214 standards that must be met to qualify for consideration as an accredited organization. At the time the Silverthorne Police Department was accredited, only 38 organizations out of 323 law enforcement agencies had achieved State accreditation. The Silverthorne Police Department is the only accredited police department in Summit County.
