As part of an ongoing effort to deliver best-in-class service to our customers, the Town of Silverthorne is embarking on an exciting new project that will upgrade all water meters to advanced metering technology. This important project will make a big difference in how you manage your usage, control your bills and are notified about potential leaks in your home. In addition to supporting environmental stewardship, this project will enable the Town of Silverthorne to provide enhanced customer service and improve operational efficiencies.

About the Water Meter Replacement

The Town of Silverthorne will be upgrading its water meters with E-Series G2® Ultrasonic water meters supplied by Badger Meter.

As part of the metering system upgrade, we will provide you with access to a smartphone application where you can view your water usage data to make more informed decisions. This new tool will also allow you to set up notification alerts for potential leaks or excess water usage to help avoid unexpected high bills.

The upgraded metering system will benefit our water utility customers by:

  • Providing smartphone access to your water consumption information
  • Allowing you to set an alert to detect potential leaks

The upgrade also provides benefits to the Town of Silverthorne that help us deliver the highest quality of water to you, including:

Providing an energy efficient, accurate and cost-effective way to read water meters

  • Delivering enhanced data more frequently to quickly identify potential problems
  • Enabling the utility to increase water conservation efforts
  • Helping the town operate the water system more efficiently

Water Meter Replacement Process

There's a lot to look forward to and it all starts with your new meter. While we are excited to begin this project, it will take time to upgrade every meter in our system. Most installations will take place Monday through Friday during regular business hours over the next few months.

Throughout the implementation of the Town of Silverthorne Water Meter Replacement project, we will continue to provide safe, reliable water service as well as updates as the project progresses. Your quality of life is one of our foremost concerns, so we will make every effort to minimize the disruption to your water service.

 During the Water Meter Replacement

  1. Water service will be disrupted for approximately 15 to 30 minutes.
  2. The installer may take photographs of the water meter area to provide you with the assurance that your property will be left in the same condition after installation as it was before installation.
  3. The existing meter will be exchanged with an upgraded meter.
  4. Water service will be restored as soon as the upgrade is complete, and, when possible, your installer will use an exterior hose spigot to release any air trapped in the line. NOTE: If your water service is off upon arrival, the meter will be changed and your water service will remain off for your protection.
  5. The installer will leave a postcard with contact information if you experience any issues.

We have designed this project to minimize disruption for customers and will work hard to make this a seamless transition. If you have any concerns or issues with the installation process, please contact the water department at 970-262-7344.
