Housing Helps Program

The Town of Silverthorne is partnering with Summit County and the Summit Combined Housing Authority on a deed restricted acquisition program, Housing Helps.

Housing Helps incentivizes homeowners and real estate buyers and sellers to deed restrict their property to help maintain and sustain homes for locals. Housing Helps will pay owners, buyers, or sellers to accept a deed restriction on homes that are unrestricted. The amount paid for a deed restriction will vary depending on the market and the needs of the community.  Funds received may be used for a down payment, home repairs, special assessments, or other purposes. In return, the recipient must execute a deed restriction that ensures the property is used for local housing.

Incentives for Deed Restricted Single Apartments

The Silverthorne Town Code allows for system development fees and building permitting fees to be waived for single apartments that meet the definition of deed restriction unit, and which are restricted to the 100% Area Median Income (AMI) rental rate for Summit County, and which are also restricted to tenants whose incomes are at or below 100% AMI (as calculated by the Summit Combined Housing Authority (SCHA)).  Depending on the size of the apartment, those waivers can add up to $12,000 to $15,000 or more.

Please contact the Housing Manager for additional information on this incentive.
