A core tenet of Silverthorne’s Police Department and our officers is making and maintaining connections with the members of our community.

Community Policing

Police Citizens Advisory Committee

This committee is an embodiment of the tight-knit relationship and mutual respect of the Silverthorne Police Department and the Town’s residents. The Committee assists the Police Chief in making recommendations to Town Council on matters related to public safety. Committee members also act as volunteers for police department activities.

Safe Summer Kickoff

The Silverthorne Police Department organizes local public safety agencies from around Summit County to gather in Silverthorne with all their toys to interact with residents and share what they do. Safety is promoted to help kids learn how to have a safe and fun summer.

Adopt an Angel

Adopt an Angel is a Christmas program to distribute gifts to deserving children in the area. Christmas ornaments in the shape of angels with children's gender and age are hung on trees placed throughout the Town. Anyone can choose an ornament, purchase a present for the child, and return the presents to the police department, unwrapped, to be distributed during Christmas week.

Championed by Silverthorne's police department for nearly 20 years, the program is now managed with the oversight of the Summit Rotary.

All employees in Silverthorne that serve or sell alcohol are required to complete alcohol awareness training as a condition of the business liquor license. Please contact Silverthorne's police department to receive local law information and for information on where TIPS classes are available.

The Silverthorne Police Department encourages community members to ride with officers for a limited time during their work shift. This allows residents to see what an officer does on a day-to-day basis and also allows potential applicants or future officers to get a feel for what police work entails.
