Lead and Copper
The Town of Silverthorne draws 20 lead samples per year from a pool of 40 residential service taps, as required by the State of Colorado Water Quality Control Division. The samples are tested by a State certified independent laboratory and all results are published in the annual consumer confidence report. Lead levels in Silverthorne have never exceeded the MCL’s (maximum contaminant levels) established by the State and EPA for drinking water.
There are no detectable levels of Lead in Silverthorne’s water supply sources or distribution system.
The Town is not aware of any lead service line connections to our system. Service lines installed prior to 1984 have the potential to contain lead in soldered joints and brass fittings, which may have been installed as part of the plumbing and mechanical systems within the building’s interior.
Beginning in January of 2014 all lead was banned from use in plumbing systems used for drinking water.
