Sign Code

The Town of Silverthorne sign regulations protect First Amendment rights, promote coordinated and appealing signage, and protect against visual discord associated with signage.

Commercial signs are governed by location and the Sign District in which they are located. 

Sign Permits

Apply for a sign permit online

  • Any new sign, or any change to an existing sign, requires a sign permit. 
  • Planning reviews all sign permit applications and inspects signs once they are installed.
  • Sign permits cost $2 per square foot of the total sign area.
  • Submittal documents required for Staff review:
    • Landowner authorization letter
    • One (1) complete scalable drawing (showing size, shape, design, materials, colors, site plan, building elevations, specific sign location, copy, mounting method, and lighting).
    • Building Elevations (wall signs)
    • Site Plan (freestanding signs)

Comprehensive Sign Plan

Apply for a Comprehensive Sign Plan Application online

Any property applying for a sign permit must have an approved comprehensive sign plan. If your property does not already have a comprehensive sign plan, please see Section 4-9-13 of the Sign Code for requirements. Comprehensive sign plans are compiled by building owners and copies are kept with the Community Development Department.


Banners

Apply for a banner permit online

  • One banner per address
  • Max size is 32 square feet
  • Max of up to 18 weeks a year
  • $15 per week

Section 4-9-5 (h) of the Town Code provides specifics regarding time, place and size requirements for temporary banners.
